PROFILE

Greatest Accomplishment: Double Trifecta last year and my first marathon.

Best OCR Memory: My first Beast. It was VT 2014.  I was very unprepared. Had only completed the sprint. A friend convinced me to join him. It was brutal. It took 10 hours to complete. Just when I saw the finish line, we had to march back uphill. I was certain I couldn’t do it. We finally reached the top, only to see the finish line waiting at the bottom. I don’t think I’ve ever sprinted downhill so fast in my life. I cried when I crossed the finish line. And made the volunteer who had given me my medal, cry as well. Over 14 miles. My longest distance before that was 5.  I couldn’t believe I had done it. And now I can’t stop! I question my sanity every time I get out there…but then I remember when I see the fire.

How did you get interested in OCR: My friend asked if I wanted to do this “Spartan Race thing” in 2012. She said it was 3-5 miles. I was getting into running…I was able to handle 5 miles, right?! WRONG. It was the PA sprint and it was the hardest thing I had ever done…at that point! As embarrassing as this is, it took us almost 4 hours to do the sprint in Palmerton that year. From the moment I crossed that finish line, I was determined to get better. The following year we cut our time in half…and I’ve been getting stronger ever since.

Least Favorite Obstacle: Spear Throw

What are you looking forward to the most:  I want to conquer obstacles this year that have given me trouble in the past. I’ve never successfully climbed the rope at a Spartan Race. I would love to do that this year…even if it’s only one time!

Favorite Pro Athlete and why:  Amelia Boone. I just adore her passion and her drive. She is successful on and off the course. It’s a true inspiration for me to not only get stronger with my fitness life, but also my professional life.

A little about yourself:  I’m a native of the Lehigh Valley. I’ve been here almost my whole life. I’ve been working in higher education for almost 10 years. Currently, I am the Assistant Director of Admissions at Neumann University. Higher Education has been an important part of my life. I work with high school students through the admissions process. (And I love helping my students even if they don’t choose my institution! As long as I know they are making the best decision to reach their goals..I did my job!) I plan events on campus, as well as starting to get out social media together.

I’ve been running Spartan Races since 2012. My first official race of my life was the PA Sprint 2012. I’m no elite or pro athlete. I’m pretty average, at best. But I also want to encourage those who think they can’t…and make them say “because of you, I did!” That’s the beauty of this sport. You can. Put in the work, have the confidence and a positive mindset…and you might just surprise yourself with how awesome you are!

I’m a very simple girl. Everything makes me smile. I love cats. And pizza. And pancakes. And life.

And joining this community was one of the BEST things I could have done for myself.

AROO!!!
